About me:
Erik Voorhees is an American expatriate living in the emirate of Dubai since January 2008, moving there to escape taxation and explore the world a bit. He attended The University of Puget Sound near Seattle, Washington, studying Business Leadership and International Political Economics. Other than markets, trade, and politics, Erik is also a fond devotee of the international house music and club scene. As a DJ and producer, he always enjoys a good night out in the clubs. His goal is to become rich and powerful so he can help the world in all the right ways. Erik Voorhees is a member of The Free State Project (freestateproject.org) and plans to move to New Hampshire by the end of 2010

He records many of his political writings at his blog: OnLifeAndLiberty.com

His other sites include:
FreedomFan.com for bumperstickers
TheNewGun.com for pocket digital video cameras
Why are you involved with liberty activism?
Because man benefits in inverse proportion to The State.
What are your political or ideological affiliations?
Erik considers himself a minarchist and staunch advocate of pure laissez-faire capitalism as well as a grateful student of Austrian Economics. He's also happy to be labeled a libertarian, and thinks it's unfortunate that liberty advocates abandon the adjective so readily simply because they don't agree 100% with others who use the term.

On voluntaryism, or anarcho-capitalism, Erik considers it intriguing, but worries that human nature may prevent a 100% voluntary society from functioning. He sees it perhaps as an asymptotic goal. He is also worried that fr33agents and similar forums of liberty-minded discussion will devolve into a pulpit for those who can't see the forest for the trees, preferring to ostracize those with whom they should instead ally.

As mentioned above, Erik is a member of The Free State Project, but is not yet in New Hampshire.

Erik is also a huge fan of Ayn Rand, and is discomforted by the similarities between current Governmental policies and the world of Dagny, Hank, and Mr. Galt.

On Obama's Job Creation

Obama’s plan to create jobs is very interesting and unexpected!

Let’s analyze this plan a bit… after all, important issues warrant analysis.

Each Federal Department seems to have the task of “creating jobs.” For example, quoting from Biden’s “Road Map”:

-The Department of Education will fund 135,000 education jobs
-The Department of Transportation will begin improvements at 98 airports and 1,500 highways
-The Department of Justice will hire or maintain 5,000 law enforcement officers.
